ENGINEERING DRAWINGS

This project involved both a design exercise, and a manufacturing exercise.

These engineering drawings are from the initial design exercise, and you will see how the mould tool I produced has evolved from the drawings in a number of ways, most notably how there are less inserts, and how the inserts I produced are slightly larger.

This design also had a pin (item #7) to stop items #2 and #3 rotating - whereas in the final mould tool I combined inserts #8 and #9 in a way which meant when the tool was assembled, it no longer needed the locking pin.

The initial purpose of inserts #5 was to create two notches in order to stow the end of the cable. I decided in the end that the cable could easily be tucked under itself, and removed them as they were simply too fiddly for the project, and I had already reached the required level of complexity.
